My spare parts for anyone interested

This is one of two ever-evolving lists I host here on Classic1800: It's basically a "spare parts" list announcing some of the extra items I've collected during my 1800 restoration project. If you need any of these items and would like to help either cause (yours or mine), let me know, and perhaps we can work something out (For what it's worth, I also have a "wish list" of things I'm currently seeking, too).

With that said, I present, in no particular order, my list of extra doo-dads:

Nose badge for an 1800ES (the squared-off piece, that is)
License plate light/cover from a Volvo 120 (Amazon)

My 1800 wish list

This is one of two ever-evolving lists I host here on Classic1800: It's basically a "wish list" announcing some of the items I realize I need (want) to complete my 1800 restoration. If you have any of these items and would like to help the cause, let me know, and perhaps we can work something out (For what it's worth, I also have the "spare parts" list of things I can offer others on their journey as well).

With that said, I present, in no particular order, my list of current wishes:

Copy of Bill Webb's 1988 book, Swedish Iron, aka Volvo 1800 (Of course)

Driver's side door stop (to keep door from slamming into shins every time I get out of the car)

A recommendation and/or actual GOOD lower-dash pad cover/replacement.

Working Smiths clock (for '71 1800E)

Triangular nosebadge

The 1800′s new home

The last month or so has been busy as I've planned, coordinated and, finally, accomplished a short move from my small in-town apartment to a much more spacious 60s-era ranch home outside the Raleigh, N.C., beltline.

One of the main perks in the move: The 1800 now has a new home in the attached garage, and I can now conveniently while away a few hours a week on the project without leaving the comforts of home.

So now it’s February…

…And some of you (quite a few of you, according to the emails) may be wondering: What the #@$^%@ happened to the 2005 Volvo 1800 calendar?

Well, to be honest: not much. Apparently, my call for entries came WAY too late in the year (October), and while I received several great shots of 1800s, too few of them were actually "print quality" (i.e., most were low-resolution digital pictures that may look fine on a desktop or cell phone, but when printed on a four-color press, they ended up looking like something published on a Lite-Brite.

Believe me, I TRIED to make the photos work, but in the end, I decided that I'd rather publish NO calendar then produce a crappy calendar; after all, our beloved 1800 deserves a lot better.

Meanwhile, consider this the "unofficial" call for entries for a 2006 calendar: Start taking glamour shots of your 1800s now (and send 'em in, please!)! An official announcement will be coming soon (No, really — this time I mean it!)

Heck, if we get enough high-quality, high-resolution images before June, we might be able to get an 18-month, July-December calendar out in time for the summer!

Stay tuned (yet again) for details!

2005 Volvo 1800 calendar is under way

The pictures are in, and we've begun compiling the first Classic1800.com Volvo 1800 calendar now. We've got some great pictures, and we're hoping to make this first calendar something we'll all be proud to hang in our homes/offices/workshops. Stay tuned for details, and thanks to all those who submitted photos for the 2005 calendar.

Calendar entry deadline is Nov. 5

Interest seems high in putting together a Volvo 1800 calendar for 2005, so in case you missed the call for entries last month, here it is again: I'd really like to get the calendar compiled, selected, edited and printed (and in the mail) in time for the holiday season (and the new year), so I'm going to set a deadline of Nov. 5 for all new submissions.

Send us your best pics!

I've received some great shots so far, and while I'd love to see more of everything, I'd REALLY love to get some shots of the older models: the P1800 (any longhorns out there?), 1800S, etc.

Also, I now have plenty of great-looking red 1800′s to choose from (which isn't bad at all; that's what I drive!), but I'd love to get more models, styles, colors, etc.

For full details, check .... Meanwhile, feel free to send entries to ...

Thanks, and have fun!

Could there be a “new” 1800?

If you haven't seen 'em yet, check out the bottom of the ... target="_blank">1800 Registry's photo page for some interesting pictures from the 2004 New York Auto Show. Could it be that the 1800 will be joining the ranks of such revived classics as the Mini Cooper, VW Bug and Ford Thunderbird?

It's just a model at the moment, but some of those lines are pretty unmistakable.
