Second Sunday: Try, try again…
Fuel gasket still leaking. Gas gauge still broken. Removed sender again and drained slight amount of fuel from float again, and remelted float to seal it. Re-installed gasket and sender, soldering pickup wire directly to sender. Gas gauge now works! By midnight, gasket is showing signs of leak yet again.

i have a 1966 volvo p1800 and need a fuel tank sender, do you knoe where i could get one or what i can do to fix it

Dan, I often see senders come up on eBay, although the prices may be a little high. You might try Mike Dudek at ... or Don Thibault at p1800.net to find a source for a new one.
I fixed mine by repairing a small hole in the plastic float and using All Seal to ensure a decent seal between the sender and the tank. Hope this helps!
